Pepperdata Supervisor Administrator’s Guide

This document describes how to perform common administrative tasks for your Pepperdata-enabled clusters.

  • The Configuration procedures describe how to perform tasks commonly done during initial Pepperdata installation, but that you can perform anytime; for example, setting up a Pepperdata proxy, running Pepperdata as a non-root user, and verifying that data is being uploaded to the Pepperdata dashboard. This section also explains how to add Apache® Impala query metrics and how to verify and disable automatic swap detection. Procedures for disabling Pepperdata are also included.

Navigate to the section that corresponds to your environment and installation framework:

    • Parcel. Configuration (Parcel)—For configuring a Cloudera Manager-managed cluster, with Pepperdata installed from a Parcel.

    • Cloud. Configuration (Cloud)—For configuring a cluster in a Hadoop as a Service environment, such as Amazon EMR or Google Dataproc.

    • RPM/DEB. Configuration (RPM/DEB)—For configuring a cluster on any Hadoop distro, with Pepperdata installed from an RPM or DEB package.

    • Kubernetes. Configuration (Kubernetes)—For configuring a Kubernetes cluster.

  • The Reports procedures explain how to configure and interpret the Chargeback and Capacity Planning reports.

  • The Management procedures show how to perform common tasks such as adding and removing users in your group, managing—stopping, starting, and restarting—the Pepperdata services, and monitoring Pepperdata stats and log files.
